Seven beautiful beaches for your bucket list!Desperately need to dip your toes in the sea? Or to feel the warmth of the sun on your skin?
From sandy beaches to secret shingle beaches, Saint-Quay-Portrieux has got it all, meaning you are sure to find your favourite beach!
You can swim in both high tide or low tide, as the sea, even during spring tides, never goes out too far. If you are nervous by the prospect of swimming in the open sea, you can still enjoy the outdoor seawater pool.

Plage du Casino
This is Saint-Quay-Portrieux’s biggest and best-loved beach. The soft sand and rocks at the far corners make it a popular beach with families.
It has a large outdoor seawater pool, and a paddling pool emerges at low tide. It is also conveniently located close to shops, restaurants, and amenities.

- Ample facilities including activities for children, kayak and paddle rentals, a playground, toilets, and car parks
- You will be able to hire an all-terrain mobility device called a “Hippocampe” for accessibility needs

Plage du Châtelet
Located in the heart of the town, Plage du Châtelet gives the impression of a hidden secluded beach, making it the perfect place for a sandy getaway. Sheltered by low cliffs, it is accessed by the GR34.
While older visitors will enjoy the relaxing spot and the view on the Semaphore, younger ones will probably prefer to climb the rocks that appear at low tide.
Separated from Plage du Casino by the outdoor seawater pool, the family beach also has brilliant shops and restaurants within walking distance.

Grève Noire
Right next to Plage du Casino, Grève noire is quieter. The nestled location keeps crowds away, even on sweltering summer days, and is the perfect spot to get lulled to sleep by the sound of waves. It also boasts some of the most beautiful views of the coast, especially from the end of the seawall.
Shops and restaurants are just a few minutes away by foot.
Did you know…? Sometimes, the sand on the beach turns black, due to the accumulation of Ilmenite, a black mineral.

Plage de la Comtesse
With its golden sand and glassy-blue waters, it is easy to see why this beach is one of Saint Quay Portrieux's most loved. It almost vanishes at high tide, but time it right and the retreating waves will reveal a path to walk to the tiny island, opposite the beach. At low tide, visitors can enjoy large expanses of sandy shores, and fish around the island.
Families will also appreciate the proximity of the harbour, shops and restaurants.

Plage du Portrieux
Facing the drying harbour, Plage du Portrieux is a favourite with sunbathers. It is easily accessible, and a perfect spot to watch the colourful boats go by.
The sandy beach also rests within close proximity to the deep-water harbour, water sports centre, as well as shops and restaurants.
Best for: getting an all-over tan, but swimming is not allowed!

Grève de Fonteny
Nestled within craggy cliffs, this little cove is located in the residential area of Kertugal. Away from the bustle of the town centre, the sandy and pebbly beach offers a haven of relaxation where visitors come to unwind.
Best for: Bathing in tranquillity surrounded by cliffs

Grève de l'Isnain
Does walking on the beach sound appealing? Or climbing rocks? If you have answered « yes » to these, then Grève de l’Isnain is perfect for you! It is much quieter and wilder-feeling than neighbouring Plage du Casino, and only a short walk from the town centre so you are never too far away from shops and restaurants.
