Experience the return of scallop fishing boats to the Port d’Armor
Ready for an authentic immersion in a traditional Breton port?Authentic immersion in the fishing port of Saint-Quay-Portrieux, known as the scallop capital of Brittany.

An unmissable experience!
It is 10:30 a.m. and just over 3 degrees at the Port d’Armor. I shiver in my hooded down jacket as I wait patiently for the fishermen to return from sea. My cheeks are turning red with the cold, but I feel a sense of excitement.
Far in the distance, the quiet rumble of an engine breaks the silence and the lights of a fishing boat shine through the fog. Soon after, the trawler is followed by several others: Bruant, Odyssée, Baradoz, Amphitrite, Discovery…

A buzzing atmosphere
From the quayside, I can see the bags stuffed full with shiny and fresh scallops.
The sailors in the yellow jackets and tall boots bring them out in a well-rehearsed ballet. The mood is energetic and joyful. In no time at all, the bags are loaded onto pallets for the forklift truck to move them inside the auction market.
In two hours, the precious catch will be sold to wholesalers.
